OPTIONS PROGRAM FOR MATURE LEARNERS

Are you an older adult learner or senior looking to audit a college class or attend adult literacy classes? Options is a unique alternative and Continuing Education program for you!

Options is a supportive community of lifelong learners over the age of 55. Exclusively available at the College of Staten Island, Options offers in-person and virtual classes designed to keep members active, connected, and thriving through a higher education experience!  

Program Highlights:

  • No exams, grades, or written take-home assignments
  • Learn for enjoyment, not evaluation
  • Welcoming, discussion-based classes
  • Community-centered learning that values lived experience

Eligibility Requirements:

To enroll in Options, you must:

  • Be 55 years of age or older

There are no educational prerequisites.


Registration Deadlines:

Session 1 Session 2
Start Date: 02/10/2026 Start Date: 03/30/2026
Enrollment Deadline: 02/04/2026 Enrollment Deadline: 03/24/2026

Registering after the enrollment deadline may result in missing essential information, such as:

  • Zoom links
  • Room locations
  • Parking permits

Class Schedule:

  • Fall Semester: September – December
  • Spring Semester: February – May
  • Classes are held Monday through Friday
  • Class times vary by course

Classes may be offered in person or online (via Zoom), depending on the course.


Tuition

  • $35 per course + discounted parking
